Happy Friday! Here’s what I’ve been loving this month.
This beautiful cabinet is a collaboration between Wiid Design and artist, Lionel Smit. The one of a kind design is made with solid dark cork, and represents South Africa with it’s reference to Cape Dutch architecture, as well as the artwork of the Cape Malay women on the doors which were hand-painted. Art and design come together to form this unique product, and my favourite product for June.
Melodrama by Lorde
Lorde’s second album, ‘Melodrama’, was released earlier this month, and oh what an album! It is a musical exploration of youth, heartbreak and the thrill of life, all put together to tell a story we, as young people, recognise and relate to. The album is filled with hypnotic sounds, interesting vocal arrangements, and Lorde’s unique voice, singing songs that seem to be written about, and for us.
I love all the songs on the album, and I really can’t narrow it down to a few favourites – let me know what yours are.
Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon
Well I’m a huge fan of books about love – love in every form, and ‘Everything Everything’ by Nicola Yoon is just that. A story about one girl, in a literal bubble, and the intriguing boy next door – both with their own battles. This book is about risking it all for love, happiness and to experience things that make your soul happy and your heart race. Everything Everything reminds us that everything in our lives, both events and people, change us and make us who we are, and that’s beautiful.
Doc Martens 1460 Boots
My Doc Martens 1460 Boots are my go to shoes in winter. Like I said in the Boots and Bandana’s post, they’re comfortable, can always work in an outfit, and they’re just classics.
Softlips Lip Balm
Winter is here, which means moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! My lips get super dry and I’ve been using this product since high school, but it honestly works the best for me. Softlips lip balms come in many scents, my personal favourite being vanilla. The actual products are nice and compact making them simple to have in your pocket, wallet, bag or car (yes, yes I do have one in all of those places).
I am always excited to try new drinks and foods, so when I saw these milkshakes at Woolworths, I had to try one! Vanilla is my go to flavour, and this milkshake did not disappoint! Plus the cute glass bottle can be re-used – which is great.
I’ve recently begun writing down my daily thoughts (both good and bad) in a journal, and it is all a reminder to myself that yes it may have been a bad day, but look at all the good before, and the possible good to come. I’ve found it to be rather helpful when my mind is on it’s own mission, or when I’m feeling down.
What have been some of your favourites this month?
